Theutan - Keeper of the Marsh

Super excited to finally show you this new character concept, the latest addition to the characters from The Extra Mile course 'universe'. This is the result of the live workshop from the second cohort of students, and it was a lot of fun to go through the entire process from sketch to polished illustration.

As part of the exercises of developing the concept of a new character, I like to create a background story. This time I went a bit overboard but in case you are interested, here is a summary of what this character backstory is all about:

"In the distant marshes of Tentalis, Theutan roams alone, marked by vestigial tentacles that symbolize his outcast status. Born into a society where children live as simple animals until they awaken to consciousness in their teenagehood, Theutan's transformation brought a deep curiosity that set him apart. Isolated by his relentless pursuit of knowledge, he survives by hunting young, squid-like creatures, struggling with the moral dilemma of taking lives that might one day awaken. Haunted by his past, Theutan dreams of a world where every being is valued for their potential."
