Here’s the quick character concept I made for the free ZBrush Concept Spring workshop. I kept the tech side light and instead focused on strong forms, a clear silhouette, and a balanced mix of details and colour.
Here's a summary of the steps:
1. Started from a single sphere in ZBrush
2. Turned on Sculptris Pro and just pushed and pulled things around until the silhouette felt interesting and the proportions looked balanced
3. Kept the tool kit simple – mainly Move, Standard, DamStandard and Inflate focusing on shape and attitude
4. Did a quick polypaint pass to block in a rough colour palette
5. Jumped into Substance 3D Painter and reused a couple of Smart Materials from my personal library (good reminder to keep building your own resources)
6. Final lighting and render done with Marmoset Toolbag 5 and Maverick
7. Added a bit of Photoshop compositing to wrap it all up
